Shandong University’s Cheeloo medical school has offered its English-taught MBBS since 2002. The six-year programme moves from language and basic sciences to basic medicine, clinical subjects and hospital rotations. HSK Level 4 is required before clinical practice. Stomatology and Nursing are separate five-year English-taught degrees.

What you pay.

The fee plans below cover Clinical Medicine / MBBS. Tuition for the other listed degrees is shown with each programme; their accommodation and additional charges need a separate FirstLiners payment plan.

• Hostel: RMB8,000–12,000 per year.
• Medical examination: RMB603 in the first year. Textbooks: RMB1,000 per year. Residence permit: RMB400 per issuance.

Scholarship options.

• MBBS Freshman Scholarship

  RMB 10,000, RMB 7,000 or RMB 4,000 for selected registered newcomers. Around 15–25% of students receive an award. Apply after registration; the award is separate from the tuition payment.

• Academic awards from Year 2

  In Years 2–5, the top 20% can compete for academic awards: RMB 3,000 for the top 3%, RMB 2,000 for the next 7% and RMB 1,000 for the next 10%.

• Other funding and payment

  The SDU Freshman Scholarship is competitive across all degree programmes. CSC Type A and B do not cover English MBBS. Plan for the full fees until a scholarship is awarded. FirstLiners prepares and follows up your scholarship application.

Entry requirements.

• MBBS applicant profile

  MBBS applicants must be aged 18–35, hold a high-school diploma or higher qualification and a non-Chinese ordinary passport, and have good health and no criminal record. An applicant under 18 needs the relevant guardian evidence and programme-specific eligibility assessment through FirstLiners.

• English

  IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 80, MyBest 80, Essentials 8 or accepted equivalent. Native English or highest education taught in English may support exemption with a signed, school-stamped medium-of-instruction letter.

• CSCA by degree

  Clinical Medicine, Stomatology and Nursing: Mathematics and Chemistry. Tourism Management: Mathematics. Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation and Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering: Mathematics and Physics. An online interview may apply.

• Nationality and financial evidence

  Relevant nationality-history rules apply. Provide proof of deposits of at least RMB 50,000 or equivalent, with the applicant or immediate family as guarantor. This demonstrates available funds and is not a tuition charge. The CSC exemption applies only to the relevant scholarship route.

• HSK Level 4 is required before clinical practice.
• Pass each stage assessment to progress. The six-year MBBS must be completed within a maximum of eight years.

• Passport

  Ordinary passport valid beyond 1 March 2027.

• Diploma/pre-graduation letter

  School-stamped and showing your expected graduation date. Final diploma required before registration.

• Full high-school transcripts

  School-stamped.

• CSCA report

  Mathematics and Chemistry. These are the English Clinical Medicine subjects; other degrees have their own subject list.

• Motivation letter

  University template; English for English programme.

• English evidence

  Valid certificate, normally within 2 years; medium-of-instruction letter signed and school-stamped.

• Physical-examination form

  Complete; photograph cross-stamp, doctor signature and hospital stamp; valid 6 months.

• Police clearance

  Local public-security certificate within 6 months.

• Financial evidence

  Applicant or immediate-family guarantor ID plus deposits of at least RMB 50,000 or equivalent. Applicable CSC scholarship exceptions are assessed through FirstLiners. This is proof of available funds, separate from fees.

• Guardian documents if under 18

  Adult resident in Shandong; guardian statement, notarized parental entrustment and guardian ID/passport.

• Nationality records if applicable

  Chinese nationality renunciation/hukou cancellation, naturalization/permanent residence, or birth citizenship and parental residence/ID; travel records 30 April 2022–30 April 2026.

• Additional requested materials

  University may request supplements.

• Document format

  Colour scans, not camera photos/photocopies. Chinese/English; certified translation with original otherwise. Handwriting only permitted on medical form/signatures.

Application and arrival

• Tuition and final documents

  After pre-admission, first-year tuition is normally due within ten days. This payment is non-refundable. Final admission and JW202 follow payment.
