Southeast University’s School of Medicine traces its origins to the Medical College of National Central University, established in 1935. Located beside Xuanwu Lake in Nanjing, the school offers a six-year English-taught MBBS. Medical study includes case-based learning and clinical education through Zhongda Hospital and other teaching bases, with clinical-skills simulation facilities.
Six-year MBBS
English-taught study combines medical science with case-based seminars. Students develop independent learning, clinical reasoning, presentation and decision-making alongside medical ethics.
Practical and clinical learning
Basic-medical-science teaching facilities and the Clinical Skills Training Simulation Hospital support practical training. The clinical-practice network includes Zhongda Hospital and other teaching bases.
Graduation and practice

Entry requirements.
School qualification and age
Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens, high-school graduates and older than 18.
English
Provide TOEFL 80, IELTS 6.0 or Duolingo 100 or above. Applicants whose home country or region uses English as an official or native language are exempt.
CSCA and Chinese
Clinical Medicine requires CSCA Mathematics and Chemistry in English. English-taught undergraduates must attain HSK Level 4 before graduation.
Nationality and residence
Former Chinese nationals must have obtained foreign citizenship or a foreign passport by 30 April 2022, show cancellation of Chinese nationality, and document more than two years abroad between 30 April 2022 and 30 April 2026. Foreign-national applicants born to one or both Chinese-national parents settled abroad also supply the required residence evidence. Nine months abroad in one year counts as one year.
HSK Level 4 is required before graduation.

Passport
Provide the passport information page, with more than one year of validity. If you have previously visited China, include all Chinese visas and residence permits.
High-school diploma
Provide FirstLiners with your high-school diploma. Final-year students may initially provide the school’s expected-graduation certificate; bring the original final diploma to registration.
High-school transcripts
Provide transcripts for every high-school course. SAT, IB, GCE A-level and ACT evidence is also accepted for application. Bring the original transcript to registration.
CSCA report
Provide FirstLiners with the official Mathematics and Chemistry results from the English-language CSCA papers for Clinical Medicine.
English proficiency
Provide TOEFL 80, IELTS 6.0 or Duolingo 100 evidence, unless the official/native-English-language exemption applies. Bring the original language certificate when required.
Police clearance
Provide FirstLiners with an official certificate of no criminal record.
Health record
Completed Foreigner Physical Examination Record. Follow the examination dates in your FirstLiners document instructions.
Financial guarantee
Complete the university’s Financial Support Guarantee Statement for International Students. This supports your funding evidence and is separate from the tuition payment receipt.
Translations and registration originals
Use Chinese or English documents. Other-language records need notarised Chinese or English translations. Bring the original diploma, transcript, language certificate and payment receipt to registration.
Nationality records — where applicable
Applicable nationality-cancellation, foreign-citizenship and overseas-residence evidence. The four-year review period for 2026 entry is 30 April 2022–30 April 2026.
