Southwest Medical University began as a medical school in 1951 and adopted its current name in 2015. Its Zhongshan and Chengbei campuses are in Luzhou. Applicants must be aged 18–30, hold a senior-high diploma or equivalent with satisfactory grades, be non-Chinese and physically and mentally healthy. Former Chinese citizens meet the Ministry of Education nationality rules.
IELTS Academic 6.0 with every band at least 5.0; TOEFL iBT 70 with every section at least 15; or an accepted equivalent. Native English speakers and wholly English-medium secondary-school graduates may qualify for exemption but still provide English evidence and school-issued instruction-medium certification.
An online interview includes psychological assessment. Before registration, the arrival entrance examination covers English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Failure disqualifies enrolment.
Medical insurance is required throughout study. Medical insurance allowance: RMB 800 per person per year. Your policy and payment amount are set out in your FirstLiners written quote.

Complete the university’s international-student application form accurately and sign it where required.
Complete the separate SWMU family-information form; it is part of the required application file.
Complete the Clinical Medicine/MBBS personal-information form, consistent with your passport and academic records.
Provide a copy of the passport with at least one year of validity remaining when you apply.
Provide the high-school diploma copy and notarised academic transcript copies. Retain the matching original records for university verification on arrival.
Provide the original physical-examination report bearing the official seal of a recognised government hospital.
Provide IELTS, TOEFL or accepted equivalent evidence, or qualifying school-issued English-proficiency and instruction-medium documents for the exemption route.
Provide a two-inch white-background JPG, at least 320 × 240 pixels and the specified 4:3 ratio, 100–500 KB. Use your passport number as the filename.
